ISO 9001 Certification
ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized Quality Management System standard released by the International Standards Organization (ISO). It was originally founded in 1987. Today, over two million companies in over one hundred seventy countries have achieved certification.
ISO 9001 is a standard that is meant to apply to all types of companies, in all industries around the world. It is not specific to an industry the way AS9100 is specific to the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
Companies looking to achieve certification to ISO 9001 must implement a Quality Management System. A Quality Management System is made up of interacting processes which define the responsibilities, methods and resources used to achieve planned goals and provide planned deliverables to customers and relevant interested parties.
An Organizations Quality Management System will need to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, the company’s own requirements, as well as the requirements of customers and relevant interested parties.
Creating and implementing an ISO 9001 Quality Management can be challenging. When properly integrated into a company’s own methods and business strategy the Quality Management System is a great tool for achieving success. When not properly integrated it may feel like a chore to manage.
